MindWise Welcome Mental Health Action Plan

Wed, 20 - May - 2020

MindWise welcome the publication of the Mental Health Action Plan for Northern Ireland.

Anne Doherty, Chief Executive says, "We’re delighted that the Mental Health Action Plan sets out a shared focus and vision on the future of mental health care in Northern Ireland.  We particularly welcome the promise to deliver a 10 Year Mental Health Strategy, which is something our Together for You partners have been campaigning for throughout a number of years.

We are pleased to see a commitment to implementing the perinatal mental health business case, which would give women and families in Northern Ireland access to the specialist mental health services all other countries in the UK already have, and to managing the impact of the unprecedented coronavirus crisis on mental health.

However there remains much to do, not least through increased investment and restructuring of resources to ensure we fully achieve the plan, which no doubt is a positive step forward”.
