Maolíosa McHugh MLA Visits Wellness Service at Fermanagh House

Wed, 05 - March - 2025

Maolíosa McHugh MLA of West Tyrone Sinn Féin visited the Wellness Service at Fermanagh House today, where he met with staff and learned about the essential support provided to mothers and young children in the community.

During the visit, Mr. McHugh held discussions with Stephen Potter (Director of Operations), Jackie McCaughey (Area Manager), Rosie Keaney (Wellness Development Manager), and the Wellness Staff Team. The conversation highlighted the positive impact of MindWise’s services and underscored the growing need for increased investment in mental health initiatives for children and young people.

Funded by the National Lottery under the People & Communities Fund, the Wellness Service delivers crucial support through its Family Wellness Project (FWP) and Mums Wellness Project (MWP). These programmes provide counselling, play therapy, parenting workshops, and peer support for children aged 5-12 and new and expectant mothers across Fermanagh and Omagh.

Following his visit, Mr. McHugh expressed strong support for the work being done by the Wellness Service team. He acknowledged the importance of early intervention and emotional well-being support for families, emphasising that continued investment in these services is vital to ensuring a healthier future for children.
